Bakubung Bush Lodge is located in the southern side of the ‘Malaria Free’ Pilanesberg National Park a comfortable 2 hour drive from Johannesburg or Pretoria, Bakubung Bush Lodge is the ideal location for a short bushveld breakaway. Bakubung is situated in an ancient volcanic crater that today comprises one of South Africa’s most exciting Big 5 eco-tourism destinations, Pilanesberg National Park.It is from here, accompanied by a game ranger, that you will be able explore a 55 000ha malaria free wildlife wonderland and discover the magic of the African bush.

Pilanesberg is the best and only true Big 5 reserve close to Johannesburg

The game drives (safari drive) are conducted in a 20 seater “open” trucks which have been specially modified. The rangers are restricted to the 200km network of the public Pilanesberg Park roads, which is more than enough to explore in a 3 hour drive.

Bakubung – or “People of the Hippo” has 76 very spacious hotel rooms. Each comfortable air-conditioned room offers a T.V., hot beverage facility, safe, bar fridge, the bathroom has a bath and a shower. Each room does have internet connectivity and there is also an internet lounge and WiFi connection in main lodge area. The rooms have just been upgraded with new interiors
and fittings. The restaurant terrace overlooks the Bakubung Valley and has stunning views off the park and a waterhole in front of the lodge attracts a variety of animals.

Bakubung has excellent conference facilities for up to 120 delegates and is only 15 minutes away from Sun City for the golf enthusiasts and guests who want to visit “Africa’s Kingdom of Pleasure”. Bakubung does offer a shuttle service between the lodge and Sun City.

Bakubung also has a Spa for those who need a little pampering.

Children are welcome and Bakubung has a children’s play ground, a shallow children’s swimming pool and a Junior Rangers program where the children all get back packs with the “equipment” needed for a successful bush experience, the children are taken on a special game drives to teach them more about the bush and animals. Baby sitting service is also available.
