Fly in Safaris
Go SAfari can change and will send you a personal itinerary and costs to any of our 3, 4 or longer safari itineraries to the Kruger Park and Madikwe including flights instead of the road transfers.
Another option is to drive one way and fly the other, at least then you do get to see some of our beautiful country and can save time on the return journey by flying back to Johannesburg. Especially for the Kruger Park safaris as this will allow you time to get a connecting flight to Cape Town or your return flight home.
Kruger Park Lodges
There are daily scheduled flights from OR Tambo (Johannesburg Airport) directly to the Sabie Sand and Timbavati Game reserves so if your international flight lands early morning by midday you can be relaxing in a luxury private lodge overlooking a waterhole and watching animals while enjoying a cold welcome drink.
South African Airways operates scheduled flights from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Airport, this is a 50 minute flight and on your arrival a representative from the lodge will meet you and then transfer you to the lodge this may be anything from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the lodge so you can also be in a lodge by midday.
South African Airways and BA operates scheduled flights from Johannesburg to Nelspruit Airport, this is also a 50 minute flight and on your arrival a representative from the lodge will meet you and then transfer you to the lodge this will be a longer transfer due to the location of the airport and can be anything from 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the lodge.
To drive from Johannesburg to any for these lodges will take between 6 to 7 hours.
Madikwe
There are scheduled flights from OR Tambo (Johannesburg Airport) directly to Madikwe and this is only a 40 minute flight, on arrival the lodge will meet you at the airstrip then just a short enjoyable game drive through the park so you can easily be relaxing in a luxury private lodge overlooking a waterhole and watching animals while enjoying a cold drink by midday.
From Lanseria Airport (Johannesburg) Madikwe is only a 30 minute flight so ideal for a charter flight as it does not work out too costly.
Driving from Johannesburg to Madikwe will take three and a half hours.
Botswana
There are also daily scheduled flight from Johannesburg to Maun and Kasane in Botswana, from here you will be met and transferred to the lodge or get onto a smaller chartered Cessna and have a scenic flight to your lodge. This will obviously take longer but you will be in the lodge in time to enjoy the afternoon game activity.
You almost have to fly to these lodges in Botswana as instead of a two to three day drive in a few hours you will be in you lodge.
